An interesting segment from ABC News' John Quinones. This is from the "What Would You Do?" series and the question explored is how customers in a restaurant will react to a security guard asking Latinos for their identification in a restaurant in southern Arizona. While the Arizona law has not yet taken effect and only applies to police officers and not security guards, ThinkProgress' Wonk Room rightly points out the threshold for stopping people is very low and it is pretty easy to envision these kinds of situations playing out.

I'm currently getting everything ready to mail my forms to get a green card through marriage. I've heard that I would have to send an employment verification letter from his boss. But some people say it's optional, I only send it if I want to because he's already got his taxes done proving he can afford to support me.

If I do have to send the letter, do I need anything else along with it as proof? Either to mail them alongside the letter or for the interview?

Any help will be much appreciated. I've heard conflicting stories and don't know what to think.

There is no mandate about that....They can come back anytime before Aug 17 as long as their PD is on or before July 31st, 2007.....Since USCIS said it will not reject 485s without medicals, you can get the medicals done later and submit when they send you an RFE....However, make sure to keep all the applications filled in and ready for mailing except for the signatures and I-94 information of the returning individuals......

On June 26, 2009, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced that the current edition of the Employment Eligibility Verification Form I-9 (Rev. 02/02/09) will continue to be valid for use beyond June 30, 2009. USCIS has requested that the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) approve the continued use of the current version of Form I-9. Once the extension request is approved, USCIS will update Form I-9. At that time, employers will be able to use either the Form I-9 with the new revision date or the Form I-9 with the 02/02/09 revision date.

Hello!

My case:
H1B current until Jan 2010
Nationality: French
PERM approved last April

The lawyer is planning to file this week for i131-i765-i485 (target is wednesday)

Would it be ok for me to travel abroad next week, or are there some travel restrictions after we file the forms?
Do we need an official receipt from USCIS before I can leave the US, or before I came back from the US, or any other restrictions?

Would some of you know?

My labor/I-140 documents show my salary to be 85K, I am yet to receive my I-140 approval from Nebraska Processing Center, filed in June 2006 under EB-2. Would it cause any problems when I file my I-485 ( priority date March 2004 ) next year if the salary for 2006 is less than 85K ? I was unemployed for two months this year unexpectedly. We got something similar. I have seen other posts in the forums but can't find them now. I would suggest you go for the fingerprints/biometrics and be done with it. Don't give them an excuse to actually implement "if you don't show up, your application will be considered abandoned".
