I just spoke to a lady at USCIS and she told me they just started working on case receipts for July 2nd and onwards so in next couple of weeks most of you who filed in first week of july should see their receipts..this is what she told me and she sounded very authentic..

Guys as it states both you and your spouse need to have an SSN not ITIN.
So if one has ssn other has ITIN you are not qualified.
The stimulus package is $600 for each member who has an SSN. Therefore if both you and your wife had an SSN you would get $1200. In the case where one spouse has an ITIN, the remaining spouse still is eligible for the $600. As mentioned in this post earlier you can always file 1040X one you receive the SSN for your spouse and claim the additional $600.

Pankaj, the writeup is spot on except for the above. I am not sure it takes anyone in the EB category, 20 years to get the GC. It may happen in the future if retrogression is not fixed.

My wife has H1B processed in maiden name -(i 797, i-94, stamping). she recently changed her maiden name to married name. she changed her name in SSN and Passport. DMV in NJ are asking to change the name in immigration office. We spoke to the immigration authority and they say there are no relevant forms to make the name change. If anybody have solution let me know.

GC Life screwed me badly, couldn't file in EB2 2 times even though eligible because of a couple of idiots, only action item I can think for myself is re file in EB-2 which I am doing it very soon and have an appointment wirh Mr.Khanna tomorrow.

My PD is Dec. 04, and my I-485 was filed during the july fiasco in 2007. My PD was current since March 08 until it will become "unavailable" in June 08.
My attorney got update from Nebraska SC in May stating "Your case is in queue for green card." Now what will happen to my case since EB-3 ROW will be unavailable in June? Does that mean an IO once opened my file after March and will close it without processing any further because of the change in the June Visa Bulletin?
I am confused. Please share your insights and experiences.

So once it is back to current in October then the new visa numbers will be alloted. Then you will get your GC. So just wait till October to receive your GC confirmation.

The important thing is, not all BEC cases are alive today. Most people moved on to PERM. On the flip side, some newbies took advantage of substituted Labor, but I am guessing the count is not very high.
So if we have 150K BEC + 144K PERM, then in reality, the total 485 primary applicants will be < (150K + 144K).
More like 200K, I would think. Including spouses and foreign born kids, the number would be 400K (as not all primaries are married).
Add some more applicants from eb1, etc., who do not require Labors and the number should not exceed half a million in total including dependants. But again, we are speculating. In reality, the total may be less than half a million or more.
Assuming DOS and USCIS are efficient and use up all 140K visas each year, all of us should have GCs in < 4 years. The per country quota may cause some trouble, which may require adjusting the timeframe a little bit, but not much.

Just to let u know, during my H1 processing, my H1 was thrown back to my lawyer asking them to send photographs of my workplace and co-workers, server room, my desk. I had to use an entire disposable camera for the same. To make things even funnier, i was not even the First one to be on H1 in my company. We had atleast 7-8 H1's at one point in time. The reason given for a throw back was, that this company seems quite new and small.
I know this is off topic, but since someone has raised this point albeit in jest, i thought i should let people on here know that UCSIS has it's own whims and fancies at times. So if something similar has happened to you in the past know that you may not be alone. :)

It will be a good chance to make some sensible calls, but requesting to make a limited number of calls with clairty in questions, probably one at a time

I just wanted to bring it to the table...I think all of us have the right to voice our opinion & looks like we all have in the case. Now it should be upto the IV to take it or leave it. Myself (primary applicant) and my spouse are on h1 with EADs. If spouse starts a company(issue checks and do all admin work) and still maintain her h1 with old employer, will it invalidate her h1 just because she used EAD? Reason for asking is if some thing goes wrong with 485, can she fall back on h1?

I have some black dots in my Control Panel? What is the meaning of a black dot?
And how does one give black dot to some one? When I try to add reputation to a post, I can only see I approve or I disapprove options. I would imagine I approve=green and I disapprove=red. Where does a black dot fit into this scheme?
The gray dots come when you get either approval/disapproval from somebody who has:

If you have a receipt notice for your H4...ask them if that helps along with your husbands H1 visa.
Your husband's H1 will determine the validity period of your visa...so that might help.
