i wanted to aviod posting this, but please include a bit of realism in your optimism. Full disclosure: i am EB 3-I
We had a discussion on our chapter here is the extract of the email that i sent based on a couple of similar comments from fellow members.
After talking to a few of the fellow members, i feel that one the main causes for inaction is that folks who have applied under EB 2 India feel that the spillover from ROW EB 2/1 and India EB1 will be sufficient to get them their GC's in 2 years tops. EAD/AP for two years is no big deal. There is no urgency to get things done or the motivation to step up to the plate and make a few calls. If that is the case, then chances are that you are mistaken.
a) we have no estimate of the per country breakdown of pending applications.
b) we have no idea how many EB2 India applied in July 07
c) we dont know the number of multiple applicants who have EB2 and EB3 applications pending (spouse and self).
d) We have no indication of the 300k applications who were stuck in namecheck and are now eligible for approval. Namecheck victims were from all countries (you can see that ROW EB 3 is U)
This affects ROW as well as the retrogressed countries as the per country quota is still fixed.
We cannot wish this mess away. Making a few phone calls at lunch should not be a big deal.
I am Not sure everybody follows Federal Reserve revising short-term rates by every month and Financal analyst were trying to understand language(tone) of Bulletin. And Looking at tone of VISA Bulletin for July 2008 and historical Bulletins EB2 for India is very encouraging till we see the language next month for India.

IV will become ready for elections when we have real candidates with real faces. I request all real candidates to publish their photos and accomplishments, their ideas for the organization; so that we can choose the best person for the job.
Any volunteers? Why don't I see a single volunteer! Seriously, can we have an election without candidates?!
I feel that initiator of this thread is not trying a coup d'�tat. He is merely pointing to the fact that every organization runs by elected officials. Having a life term president and core group is only heard in autocratic systems but not in a democratic one. What are we as an organization?
Why are we afraid of discussing new ideas? Why shouldn't we open up IV organization for elections? There is nothing wrong in declaring the rules and then playing by those rules.
So I completely support the guy who came up with this suggestion.

Dont assume that people who gone back to India and working a manager are living happily without any issues.
One of my friends whome I used to work in 2005 was promoted to manager in 2007. Now he is in a dilemma whether to continue to go up the ladder or come back doing technical stuff. Salary wise he is not getting that much and he doesnt know how the company will do infuture. It all depends on US economy. If you are looking for 18L above salary, then it is very very tough to get a job in india.
Very coreect uma...you can forget career growth in India without a MBA degree.

Also, Day 1, the FOIA initiative had a goal of $5K.
And without reason, the goal was increased to $10K.
So, pappu should not complain of not reaching the goal when he keeps increasing the goal.

USCIS asked for $5K for information. As per Pappu's investigation, USCIS is currently resolving FOIA filed a year back. In that case even after paying 5K, we may get information after a year. We needed little more money keep our options open as we are determined to get this information from USCIS. This is why we needed more money and I raised the goal. If it can be done by 5K, rest of the money will go to IV lobbying efforts. There is nothing wrong in that.
Core team may not like this but I can understand your point. There is a communication gap between IV Core team and members. Core team wants to hide everything they are doing assuming that anti are reading the forum and they will know what we are doing. On other side members feel uncomfortable as nothing comes out as solid / strong plan of action. There were couple of instances were I personally felt that core talks too much among themselves and release almost zero information to members, it may be good for community overall but not good for an organization where everyone is participating directly or indirectly. By recent posts by Pappu, I think they are improving.
We need to give them a chance as anyways their act is selfless. They may be lagging in personal management but they are not bad by heart or doing anything for personal benefit.

That comment was made for Family Visas, since everyone who applies on Family Visa, might not eventually get it. I read here that King said that everyon on EAD and AP is getting a free ride even thought here green card might get rejected. What does he mean by that. I tahught every process goes thorugha security check. such as I 140, H1b, AP and even EAD.

PERM is only for the Primary applicant. For I-485 every dependent of Primary applicant needs one separate application
Considering all these 750,000 I-485 filings in next 1 month sounds a reasonable estimate.

I am the better half too!:) Anyway, just an FYI. Since you got your RD, i would suggest you inquire about your and your familys name check status in the next few months. As far as i know, name checks are cleared whithin a few months of RD or few months after 1st Fingerprint. This would just give you some peace of mind...

IV is you me and everybody else. We saw since morning how people are trying to scuttle the idea by giving various and weird reasonings. What is important is writing them. And telling them the gravity and urgency of the situations. words like bonded should be bolded as the truth is 'Yes' in this free American Society we have lived a 'bonded' life...
